The playground’s math, without the mouse. Read prices, explore scenarios, and send people straight to an editable can-cost estimate.

Three requests. One shared calculation.

  1. GET /api/prices/current

Fetch the latest market reference. Numeric prices are USD per metric tonne. Inspect date, freshness, and each component’s provenance, observation date and carried-forward status. A recent row date alone does not mean every component is fresh.

  2. GET /api/playground/quote?lme=3000&mwp=1000&weight=14&yield=95&conversion=30&quantity=1000000

Calculate an explicit scenario. This example returns $0.088947… per can, $88.947… per 1,000, and $88,947.37 per million. The response includes inputs, units, unrounded results, assumptions and an editable playground URL. These are example inputs, not live quotes.

  3. GET /api/playground/history

Read up to 252 stored market observations, oldest first. Full ISO dates and component provenance are retained. Available history can be shorter. No interpolation or synthetic prices.

The quote and replay endpoints allow cross-origin reads. Public requests are rate limited; honor HTTP 429 and Retry-After. Invalid scenario inputs return 400. Market-data failures return an error, never fabricated prices.

Keep the assumptions attached.

Metal per can = (LME + MWP) × (weight in grams ÷ (yield ÷ 100)) ÷ 1,000,000. Add conversion ÷ 1,000 for material + entered conversion cost. There is no scrap credit. Freight, taxes, coatings and other costs are excluded unless entered in conversion. Ask for actual supplier specs before treating example values as real. This is a cost scenario, not a finished-can supplier quote.

In the playground, “Copy for ChatGPT” copies the current inputs, calculations, source context, URLs and a comparison prompt. Paste it into your assistant. Agents with HTTP tools can use the JSON endpoints and OpenAPI document directly; no MWTPro account or API key is required.
